Regulating our Emotions

This morning our school’s child & youth worker came into our class to talk about emotions. We have been working our regulating our emotions using ‘how is our engine running’ to recognize when we are running too high or too low and to use the proper strategies for getting our engines running in the green zone which is where we learn the best. We invited Miss Leslie to come and introduce The Control Scale to help us identify how we are feeling. It can be difficult for some kids to articulate what they are feeling, and this chart helps to simplify.It is important for students to recognize when they are feeling angry or upset so they can get help if they need it or use one of the strategies we have discussed to calm themselves down.
